URS-IAYSP-KOREA PARTNERSHIP CHAMPIONS NBEIRDD

The Production Services Team under the leadership of Dr. Leo C. Rio hosted and facilitated the URS-IAYSP 2023 Peace Designer’s Global Action in the Philippines last August 21-25, 2023 through the Nature’s Breath, Education, and Innovative Research Hub as a second service project of the International Association of Youth and Students for Peace-Korea in the University of Rizal System.

After the first batch slated last February 16-18, 2023 with the College of Education of URS-Morong cam- pus as project recipient, Batch 2 centered their support in the development of Nature’s Breath, Education and Innovative Research Development and Demonstration Hub dubbed as NBEIRDD. The project aims to:

  1. develop a nature-inspired RDEP learning hub where research-based, extension, and production-learning and demonstration activities for the URS- Morong community and other stakeholders;
  2. create work and study environment for faculty, students, and staff; and
  3. inspire a healthier University and campus atmosphere through the development of meaningful interest of the University people in terms of participation in environmental-related advocacy projects

As an approved project jointly funded by URS and IAYSP Korea, the phases of the project are the following:

Phase 1        – Development of a Demo/ Research- Learning Hub where ornamental plants for research purposes can be grown

Phase 2        – Growing of High-Valued Vegetable Phase 3 – Development of Butterfly Sanctuary Phase 4 – Development of Bird Sanctuary

The selected student-leaders of the University from the College of Education, College of Science, College of Engineering, and College of Industrial Technology actively participated during the event with Director Ruby San Juan and Mr. Jonathan Luris of the Office of Student Development Services in close supervision.

The proponents of URS-IAYSP NBEIRDD Global Peace Designer’s project look forward to connecting students, academics, practitioners, and the wider community in collaborative applied research to advance scalable urban biodiversity ideas, policies, and actions that will contribute to empowering individuals and communities.
