The Office of International Development and Special Programs (IDSP) engages with international universities not only in neighboring countries in Asia but also in western.
With numerous letters of intent sent, two universities in the United States of America expressed willingness to collaborate with URS. Despite the time differences, the University of Rizal System (URS) virtually met the two universities: the University of Tennessee (UT) from Tennessee, USA on February 2 and San Jose State University (SJSU) in Silicon Valley, California, USA on February 9 to discuss the possibility of partnership.
The potential areas of collaboration discussed with UT are the organization of virtual learning program series, the establishment of exchange programs, joint research collaborations, exchange or collaboration in instructional materials and scholarships for graduate studies. Under the establishment of exchange programs, there might be an involvement of the 2+2 program which allows students to finish their 2 years study in their home institution then transfer their 2 years with partner universities, and the 3+1 joint programs which allow students to finish their 3 years study in their home institutions then transfer their 1 year with partner universities offering to continue their education for master’s/doctorate study in UT. Likewise, organization of virtual learning program series is also seen with the San Jose State University.
The IDSP continues to engage further with different universities across the globe to craft ideas for a possible partnership. ~MKRR
