URS-BOR REAPPOINTS URS PRESIDENT Dr. Marita R. Canapi

Dr. Marita R. Canapi, URS President takes her oath at the Commission on Higher Education, CHED, C.P Garcia, in UP Diliman.  With her are Dr. Patricia A. Licuanan, CHED Chair, Dr. Alex D. Brillantes, Commissioner and other members of the URS Board of Regents.

The URS Board of Regents unanimously voted for the reappointment of Dr. Marita R. Canapi as University President during a special board meeting held on January 22, 2016 at the CHED Office, Diliman, Quezon City. She took her oath of office after the meeting and thanked the Board for the trust and confidence on her leadership and for giving her another 4-year term to lead URS into fulfilling its vision to be a leading University in human resource development, knowledge and technology generation and environmental stewardship.

Dr. Marita R. Canapi presents the FY Budget of the University of Rizal System to the Regional Budget Review on February 3, 2016 at THE Monte Vista Resorts in Calamba, Laguna.

President Canapi presented to the Regional Budget Review the proposed FY 2017  Budget of the University on February 3, 2016 at Monte Vista Resort in Calamba, Laguna.  She also proposed three priority infrastructure projects which are included in the 3-year Rolling Investment Plan of the University which was approved by the Board of Regents on December 22, 2015. The panel composed of Department of Budget and Management, National Economic Development Authority, Department of Science and Technology and private sector representatives expressed their full support in the proposed projects particularly the Autotronics Innovation and Training Center because this project will directly benefit the car manufacturing industry which is one of the biggest contributors of growth and employment in the region.

URS CONDUCTS 3-DAY STRATEGIC PLANNING WORKSHOP

A three-day strategic planning workshop themed as “Global Excellence through International Recognition”was conducted by the University of Rizal System on February 17-19, 2016 at Villa Alfredo’s Resort in Barangay Baliti, San Fernando, Pampanga.  The said planning workshop was attended by the members of the Administrative Council and other Unit Heads of the University headed by Dr. Marita R. Canapi, University President.  It was highlighted by the president’s report on the remarkable developments, progress and other accomplishments of her administration in the first four years, 2012-2016 which sets the direction towards facing the challenges of the next four years, 2016-2020 and beyond. The challenges cover those of ASEAN integration;  ISO Initiatives; K to 12 of Deped, including OBE and curriculum revision initiatives;Rationalization Verticalization, and Departmentalization; Licensure Examination and Graduate Studies Performance; Financial Management and Budget Utilization; and URS Initiatives for community and nation-building.
