The University of Rizal System assisted in the implementation and institutionalization of the Techno Gabay Program as a partner agency of the Farmer’s Information and Technology Service (FITS) Center. The Techno Gabay Program Summit 2023 focused on their theme: TGP Connect: Bridging the Digital Divide Through Empowerment of TGP Implementers, and was held on November 15-17, 2023.
In partnership with DA-ATI Region IV-A and the Rizal Provincial Government, the university promoted the activities offered by FITS. Currently, the FITS Centers in the province of Rizal can be found in Antipolo, Baras, Morong, Pililla, Tanay, Taytay, Teresa, and MFI Jalajala.
The event was hosted by Laguna State Polytechnic University, while Prof. Anniversary M. Balbuena, Campus Head for Extension of URS Angono, represented Dr. Fe Esperanza T. Mateo, the Director for Extension Services. She expressed her deepest honor and sincere gratitude for presenting on behalf of the FITS Centers in Rizal and the Office of Provincial Agriculture the accomplishments for 2023.
The DA-ATI IV-A, RPG, and URS visited them and were welcomed with constant communications with the focal persons which strengthened their partnership. There were also negotiations regarding the technological advancements and innovations to reach the farmer’s level. As they exchange ideas and relate worthwhile experiences, the learning grounded on scientific information and technology services were shared and became a part of the best practices.
The activities focused on information and technology services as well as the innovations and best practices availed by farmers and fisherfolks were given emphasis. Through TGP, enhanced access to agricultural services are assured.
