Morong, Rizal, May 29, 2024 – The Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Tanghalang Sining (EARTS) at the University of Rizal System (URS) Morong Campus was a hive of activity as stakeholders gathered for the CALABARZON Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2023-2028 Rizal Provincial Roadshow. This event marks a significant step in disseminating and advocating the regional blueprint for development, setting the stage for economic and social transformation in the CALABARZON region.
The CALABARZON RDP 2023-2028 is the regional counterpart to the Philippine Development Plan, outlining an ambitious agenda for the region’s growth over the next five years. It includes a comprehensive assessment of socio-economic performance, identifies development challenges, and proposes strategies, targets, and legislative measures to foster a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient CALABARZON.
A key feature of the RDP is its Communication Plan (CommPlan) 2023-2028, which lays out effective dissemination and advocacy strategies. The CommPlan aims to ensure coordinated and consistent communication efforts, engaging public and private stakeholders.
The roadshow started with the Conduct of Baseline Survey for the RDP by NEDA Region IV-A, setting the foundation for understanding the region’s current development landscape.
Dr. Nancy Pascual, President of the University of Rizal System, delivered the welcome message, emphasizing the importance of academic institutions in hosting and participating in such pivotal events.
Gov. Nina Ricci Ynares represented by Vice Gov. Reynado San Juan Jr. followed with an inspirational message, highlighting the collective effort required to achieve the region’s development goals.
A ceremonial turnover of the RDP and the Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP) was conducted by Governor Ynares and Dir. Agnes Tolentino of NEDA IV-A symbolizing the collaborative effort between the provincial government and NEDA.
Director Tolentino then provided an overview of the CALABARZON RDP 2023-2028, detailing the priority programs and projects driving the region’s development.
Adding a cultural touch to the event, the URS Antipolo Hiyas ng Rizal Dance Troupe performed a special folk dance, showcasing the region’s rich cultural heritage.
The roadshow also featured a talk show titled “CONVOCALABARZON: Bridging Progress, One Province at a Time,” by NEDA IV-A and URS. This segment focused on the collaborative efforts and progress being made across the provinces within the region.
The event concluded with a closing message from Director Tolentino, who reiterated the importance of community involvement and the role of educational institutions like URS in fostering regional development.
The RDP Roadshow at URS underscores the critical role that academic institutions play in regional development. It provides a platform to engage actively in community development initiatives, promotes collaborative utilization of resources, and strengthens public awareness and understanding of regional development plans.
The CALABARZON RDP Roadshow aims to inform and inspire active participation and support from all sectors of society, ensuring a united approach towards achieving the region’s development goals.
With the successful conclusion of the Rizal Provincial Roadshow, the CALABARZON region is poised to embark on a transformative journey driven by strategic planning, community engagement, and unwavering commitment to progress.
