The University of Rizal System (URS) showcased its innovative prowess at the Southern Tagalog Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research, Development, and Extension Consortium (STAARRDEC) 1st Regional Research Innovation Week (RRIW) with the theme “Catalyzing Regional Advancement through Research and Innovation” held on October 23-26, 2023 at Dioscoro L. Umali Auditorium, University of the Philippines Los Baños, Laguna.
URS made headlines by securing 1st place in the STAARRTOK Competition with its technology “SOLARIS: An Indoor Solar-Powered Aquaponics System,” presented by Kim Andrea C. Garcia, a Mechanical Engineering student of URS-Morong. Various events had also been participated in: the 36th Regional Symposium on Research, Development, and Extension Highlight by Prof. Cyrene Navalta and Prof. Edwin Navalta with their research “Inventory of Bryophytes and Pteridophytes in the University of Rizal System Tanay Campus”; Student Congress by Engr. Rodalissa Quirre and Engr. Amabel Cruz with their technology “Semi-automated Portable Mango Sizer”; Technology Pitching by Engr. Merie Ann Dudang with her technology “URS Hybrid Coffee Seed Dryer”; Technology Expo by Ryan Guinto, Ricky Ulep, Noel Padios, and Danica Robles; Same Event Edit by Ella Mae Ramos, Kevin Aquino, and Marlon Alquiza; and the RAISE Summit by Dr. Marites Rio, Dr. Leo Rio, Danica Robles, Ella Mae Ramos, Christian Russel Rones, and Ryan Guinto.
Under the guidance of President Dr. Nancy Pascual and VP for RDEP Dr. Marites Rio, the URS delegation showcased its commitment to driving innovation and excellence in research, development, and extension, making its position as a leader in the field. // EBR
