The URS Intellectual Property Office (IPO) in collaboration with Project 1C – Enhancing the Intellectual Property and Technology Business Manage-ment (IPTBM) in URS spearheaded the URS Technology and Innovation Pitch Day 2023 on October 20 via Zoom.
The event highlighted the potential technology developed by each URS campus for promotion to prospective adopters or investors. The activity presented the outputs of the faculty during the re-echo workshop on IP Master Class, Technology Promotion and Commercialization. The said activity paved the way for potential technologies and innovation within the University to prepare for the regional and national technology pitch day by the DOST-PCAARRD. The activity likewise allowed faculty and student researchers to showcase their research outputs and technology and their potential contribution to the development of science and technology in URS and the country. It aimed to determine the potential assets of the University that can be pitched in the form of a technology, product, or process. Any IP that has the potential for commercialization will be looked into for IP rights registration and technology transfer initiatives and packaged for a corresponding IP rights registration filing with the IPOPHIL.
Two competitions were conducted. URS TechTalk, catered to student-researchers promoting their respective technologies, and the Local Technology Pitching catered to faculty-researchers. Engr. Joshua Tejada from the College of Engineering with his TRAINURS: MCU-MAM400 Portable won first place in Technology Pitching. Likewise, URS Tanay won with its “Semi-Automated Portable Mango Sizer” for the TechTalk: Technology Oriented Knowledge Competition.
The event was hosted by the Extension and Production Units of the Research Development, Extension, and Production (RDEP) division. The event is an annual activity aimed at supporting the URS IP Office and Project 1C’s a d vocacy on enhancing the intellectual property and technology business management of the University. // ~CRRones
