SUC Delegates Arrive for 8th Culture, Arts Festival

The stage is set as delegates from the 12 state universities and colleges (SUCs) across the region arrive on November 24 and 25 for the much-anticipated 8th Southern Tagalog Regional Association of State Universities (STRASUC) Culture and the Arts Festival being hosted by the University of Rizal System (URS). Themed “Tayo na Timog Katagalugan, Kultura at Sining ay Isulong,” this event celebrates the rich diversity of talent and creativity within the academic community. The event takes place from November 25 to 29.

A total of 1199 participants from Batangas State University (BatSU), Cavite State University (CavSU), Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU), Marinduque State University (MSU), Mindoro State University (MinSU), Occidental Mindoro State College (OMSC), Palawan State University (PSU), Romblon State University (RSU), Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), University of the Philippines- Los Baños (UPLB), University of Rizal System (URS), and Western Philippines University (WPU) from visual artists and musicians to dancers and thespians, are warmly welcomed at the URS Morong Campus. Each delegation brings the unique cultural identity of each institution, adding to the festival’s dynamic atmosphere.

“We are happy and thankful that the delegates arrived safely at our university,” said Dr. Edward Andrecio, Head of the University Center for Culture and the Arts (UCCA). “This festival is not just a competition but a celebration of our shared culture and diversity.”

The opening ceremony, scheduled for 5:00 pm at the URS Quadrangle, is preceded by a foot parade of participants, followed by an opening program and welcome night dubbed “Governor’s, Mayors’ & Presidents’ Night.” Over the next few days, students will compete in various categories, including theater, music, dance, literature, and visual arts.

The 8th STRASUC Culture and the Arts Festival is expected to draw large crowds of students, faculty, and art enthusiasts, making it a vibrant platform for cultural exchange and artistic expression. //JLG
