Researchers, Extensionists Celebrated in Virtual Congress

The University of Rizal System (URS) concluded its 19th Research Development, Extension, and Production (RDEP) Congress with a virtual ceremony via Zoom on August 19. The event, held under the theme “Driving Innovation and Sustainable Impact through Research Development, and Extension Excellence,” recognized outstanding contributions across various categories.

The winners in the Descriptive category are Dr. Analyn V. Inarda with her research titled Enduring Against the Odds: Phenomenologizing the Experiences of Women Academic Leaders in a VUCA Environment won First Place. Second Place is Dr. Floricel V. Ulat with her research Exploring Fractal Dimension Analysis of Academic Performance and Pre-Board Examination Results: A Case from Teacher Education Students at URS Tanay Campus. Third placers are Dr. Romeo C. Pati, Prof. Jericho M. Inarda, Prof. Fredie C. Regalario, and Dr. Florante R. Mercado with their GIS-based Bamboo Suitability Mapping and Delineation of Bamboo Clumps in Selected Areas in the Town of Rodriguez, Rizal.

The Best Developmental Researches are Production and Commercialization of Powdered Trichantera by Dr. Rocan B. Pangan, Artificial Intelligence Grades Encoder by Dr. Marlon A. Bautista and Prof. Paul Arvy V.  Alfonso, and FYRO: Fire Safety Reconnaissance Observer – A Gas Detection and Alert Robot by Engr. John Dennis Z. Espiritu, Dr. Norberto M. Nataño, and Engr. Froilan Joseph P. Paz, first, second, and third places, respectively.

For the Best Experimental Research, First Place was captured by Dr. Jonathan Carlo A. Briones, Prof. Jose Allan B. Dieta, Prof. Mark Anthony B. Cinco, and Prof. Jerry C. Esperanza with their project Population Dynamics of Laguna de Bay Native Fishes Under Ecosystem Disturbances; second place is Dr. Cyrene T. Navalta’s Phytochemical, Antioxidant, and Toxicity Analysis of Lando (Embelia philippinensis A.DC.) Extracts, and Nutrient Profiling of Its Derived Product; and third is Dr. Jenisus O. Dejarlo’s Development, Acceptability, and Effectiveness of Worktext in Precalculus.

 The Best Research Posters are GIS-based Bamboo Suitability Mapping by Dr. Romeo C. Pati, Prof. Jericho M. Inarda, Prof. Fredie C. Regalario, and Dr. Florante R. Mercado; Exploring Fractal Dimension Analysis of Academic Performance and Pre-Board Examination Results by Dr. Floricel V. Ulat; and,  Acceptability of the Contextualized Worktext in Mathematics in the Modern World for Business and Accountancy Students also by Dr. Ulat, all of which won first,  second, and third places, respectively.

The winners for the Best Extension Projects are First Place: Dr. Jocelyn L. Gagalang, Dr. Mark Ray P. Sioson, and Prof. Keith D. Cruz’s Advocacy on Communication Enhancement & Gender and Development (ACEGAD) Literacy Training Program – Phase 2; Second Place: Dr. Analyn V. Inarda, Prof. Michael L. Protacio, Prof. Olivia R. Cababat, Mrs. Maricar O. Soberano, and Mrs. Marilou C. Hernandez’s URS Office Personnel Information Sharing: A Modular Approach (Phase IV) URS OPIS IV; and, Third Place: Prof. Anniversary M. Balbuena, Mr. Rodler A.Villalon, Ms. Maria Lourdes Q. Serato, Prof. Jerry C. Esperanza, Prof. Ferdinand C. Gimeno, and Prof. Armando C. Cinco’s  KAYAKAPP LGBTQIA+.
