“Everywhere is walking distance if you have the time…” is part of the sincerely conveyed message of VP Marites M. Rio during the Professional Enhancement Forum on Challenges and Opportunities on Internationalization of Research towards Empowering Extension Services and Utilization Practices last March 28, 2023 at the Amang Eulogio Rodriguez Tanghalang Sining (EARTS), URS-Morong. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Rommel Pilapil Sergio as the re-source expert speaker. Dr. Sergio is a multi-awarded alumnus of URS who is consistently flavoring his walk of life with a number of advocacies in research, service learning as well as in management for better work milieus.
The participants were overwhelmed by the inspiring sharing of Dr. Rommel who noted that the internationalization of research has increasingly become an area of focus for Higher Education Institutions. He also commended URS for getting smarter in putting a premium toward making its faculty, especially the researchers who are becoming more conscious and definitive relative to the key considerations by which they can step in the name of international research collaboration. He highlighted that the internationalization of research is influenced by the complex intersection of factors relating to the individual faculty member, to their discipline, to their institution, and to a range of external factors, such as funding.
