The University of Rizal System welcomed Dr. Yong Chao-Su of Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU) of Taiwan and faculty members of the Institute of Chemistry of the University of the Philippines – Los Baños (UPLB) namely: Dr. Gladys Cherrise Completo (Vice President & President-Elect, PAASE), Dr. Sheryl Lozel Arreola, Prof. Annabelle Abrera, Prof. Rochelle Ibabao, and Prof. Melvin Castrosanto. They were treated with a tour of the Museong Pambayan ng Morong where they were immersed in the history and culture of Morong, Rizal, followed by a brief glance at the URS Morong Campus, and a visit to the Tara na sa Banggandang Baras Public Ecopark on September 17.
Dr. Completo of UPLB discussed the overview of PAASE and its activities in a meeting with the URS Executive Committee members, RDEP directors and heads of units, IDSP, UPMEO, OPA, and Campus RDEP coordinators. Likewise, Dr. Su presented his two pieces of research titled Native Wolbachia occurrence and distribution in the urban populations of Aedes mosquitos demonstrating a potent utility for dengue vector control: An application of metagenomic techniques; and Bee the light of darkness: Sustainable development project in Namasia District, Kaohsiung City (An introduction to KMU).
