The University of Rizal System through the Office of Environmental Education and Biodiversity Research Center, headed by Engr. Maribeth Esteva, participated in the conference exploring areas of convergence for a Whole of Government Intervention, Developing Climate Information Services in Health and Agriculture under the OneHealth approach. The event was conducted and spearheaded by South - South Collaboration on Climate Information Services Project on August 10-11, 2023 at the University of the Philippines BGC Campus.
The government is on the road to a climate-resilient Philippines by 2050, and to realize it, a multisectoral collaboration is needed to holistically address all issues concerning environmental degradation. The conference brought together actors from the Environment, Health, and Agriculture sectors for plenary and break-out sessions, workshops on Community of Practice (COP), and fruitful exchanges of ideas. The activities discussed the overview of Climate change and its impact, exploring the nexus between sectors.
Engr. Esteva highly appreciated that her participation in the said event has challenged a pipeline of collaborations with State Universities and the Private Sector to strengthen the EEBRC's environmental advocacy. Thus, the office of EEBRC has listed possible SUCs and NGOs to partner with, especially, in the conduct of the 10th Annual University Environment Week this coming November 2023. Moreover, the office noted activities that may address existing environmental issues at the university.
