Kaohsiung, Taiwan – February 2025 – Building on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU) and the University of Rizal System (URS), a delegation from URS participated in an enriching International Academic Exchange Workshop hosted by KMU from February 10-14, 2025. This MOU serves as a foundational agreement aimed at fostering academic collaboration and deepening mutual partnerships between the two universities, focusing on cross-institutional and cross-sector resource integration.
The URS delegation, comprised by Dr. Niclie Tiratira, Prof. Jeremy Aterrado, and Prof. Reymily Rose Sta. Ana from the College of Science of Morong Campus, engaged in a series of academic and cultural activities throughout the week designed to promote both theoretical and practical cooperation. These activities are part of KMU’s core concept of "local implementation of International University Social Responsibility (IUSR)," aiming to extend global academic exchanges and cultivate core talents.
The workshop commenced with the arrival of the URS delegation at Kaohsiung International Airport, followed by a welcoming ceremony and transport to the University of the Philippines Guesthouse in Kindness Hotel. On February 11, the delegation participated in an academic exchange seminar at KMU, where faculty members from both institutions shared their expertise and engaged in collaborative discussions. The workshop was followed by a tour of KMU’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital and the Children's and Juvenile Injury Medical Integration Center.

Additionally, the URS delegation visited the Taiwan Love and Hope International Charity on February 13, where they observed the charity’s work in supporting vulnerable populations through social services and humanitarian aid. This visit provided a significant opportunity to explore collaborative approaches to social welfare initiatives and deepen the understanding of international charitable practices.
Throughout the exchange, the focus remained on creating a stronger platform for collaboration between the two universities, facilitating closer interactions among faculty members, staff, and students. As part of the ongoing initiative, KMU and URS are expected to continue building upon their shared goals and research, with the potential for more future visits and exchange programs.
The successful conclusion of the workshop saw the URS delegation departing from Kaohsiung on February 14 after a rich week of academic engagement and cultural immersion. This collaborative event marks an important step toward the continued partnership between KMU and URS, setting the stage for future academic exchanges and social responsibility initiatives.
