The University of Rizal System (URS) through the initiative of the Research Development, Extension, and Production division conducted the International Multidisciplinary Research and Extension Conference (IMREC) on November 17-18 via Zoom.
Themed Leveraging Sustain-able Research and Extension Services in the Prospects of the New Normal, the conference aimed to serve as an avenue for the exchange of information, research outputs, and best community development practices among researchers and extension practitioners from various academic institutions across disciplines both in the local and global environments.
Participants were faculty researchers and extension practitioners from international and national universities and institutions, representatives from sectoral and provincial line agencies, and other interested professional groups.
Parallel sessions on education innovation, humanities, and social sciences, climate change, mental health, psychology, agriculture and natural sciences, and, engineering, science and technology were held. The themes for the parallel sessions in extension were poverty alleviation, food production and safety, sustainable agriculture, entrepreneurship and ecotourism, environmental preservation, social equity, and gender and development.
Leadership Innovation in Local and Global Scale, Empowering Communities through Agricultural Extension Innovations, Nurturing Community Resilience Through Research and Extension and Multidisciplinary Research and Extension Towards Leading Sustain-able Edge were delivered by Dr. Ethel Agnes Pascua-Valenzuela, Director, SEAMEO; Dr. Leila Landicho, University Researcher III, UP Los Baños (UPLB); Dr. Rowena Baconguis, Dean, College of Public Affairs, UPLB; and Dr. Rommel Sergio, Associate Dean, Canadian University of Dubai, respectively. The keynote speaker was Dr. Prospero De Vera, Chair of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
