DICT, URS First ICT Conference Held

Morong, Rizal – The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Rizal, in partnership with the University of Rizal System – Binangonan (URSB) Campus, College of Computer Studies, marked a significant milestone with the Rizal ICT Conference (RICTCON2024). Themed “Navigating Digital Frontier: Innovate. Integrate. Inspire,” the conference was held at the URS Morong Campus on April 25.

In partnership with URS, this first-ever ICT Conference of DICT Rizal aimed to foster connections with digital service providers, meet training providers for professional development support, network with startups, and delve into breakout sessions covering a range of cutting-edge topics essential for digital transformation.

The event commenced with the welcome remarks of Prof. Marthea Andrea Daluyon, Adviser, College of Computer Studies Student Body organization of URSB, followed by the messages of Prof. Joy Cruz, Dean, College of Computer Studies, URSB; Prof. Aldrin Boca, Student Development Services Coordinator, URSB; Dr. Joanne Concepcion, Campus Director, URSB; Dr. Nancy Pascual, University President; and Hon. Nina Ricci Ynares, Governor, Province of Rizal.

Engr. Zendie Sollano-Cabanlong, Provincial Officer of DICT Rizal, introduced the keynote speaker in the person of  Dir. Vajir Joshua Querol, Project Director of the National Government Portal. Director Querol’s extensive experience and leadership in information and communications technology were shared as he delivered the discourse on the future of digital innovation in Rizal province.

Throughout RICTCON2024, students, faculty, staff, and other participants were empowered with a series of interactive sessions, including breakout sessions on Cybersecurity discussed by Mr. Ryan Ty, Country Manager, Qualys; Emerging Technologies by Mr. Carlo Romero, Technical Consultant, Security Systems Services and Research Coordinator, Our Lady of Fatima University; Digital Transformation by Mr. Eric Zhou, Chief Account Manager and Chief Solution Engineer, H3C; Data Analytics by Ms. Roxanne Lineses, Freelance Reports Analyst Trainer; and, Digital Startups by Mr. Christian Jon Rillera, Convenor, Startup Rizal. These sessions provided attendees with practical insights and strategies to navigate the complexities of the digital landscape and drive sustainable innovation.

Moreover, RICTCON2024 provided a unique platform for networking and collaboration, offering participants an exciting opportunity to forge meaningful partnerships with industry stakeholders and explore potential avenues for digital advancement in Rizal.

As RICTCON2024 drew to a close, Mr. Bryant Kim An, President, Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) – Rizal, conveyed his message of support along with the awarding of certificates, the closing message of Engr. Cabanlong, and the closing remarks of Prof. Alking Sunga, Adviser, i-Connect Student Society (ICSS), URSB.
