Abrazado, Francisco Receive Guronasyon 2021 Awards

The Guronasyon Foundation Incorporated (GFI) continually recognizes outstanding faculty members in the Province of Rizal who serve the youth and make a difference in public education.

Now on its 28th year, the Guronasyon Awards with the theme “Pagpupugay sa Mapusong Paglilingkod ng mga Gurong Rizaleṅo sa Gitna ng Hamon ng Panahon” held the virtual launch for the search and nomination on October 08 via Zoom and FB live while the awarding of winners was held on November 26 thru FB live.

The Executive Committee was composed of Dr. Cherrylou Repia, Rizal Schools Division Superintendent, as chairman; Dr. Nelda M. Roguel, GFI board of trustee, as co-chairman; and Dr. Nancy T. Pascual, URS President, as one of the members.

According to Hon. Michael John R. Duavit, current Chairman of the GFI, “All teachers must be recognized, since the educative process especially in these trying times is not easy.”

The nominees were judged based on their personal qualities and character; instructional competence and teaching effectiveness; and professional and community involvement.

The board of judges from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) were invited to interview the finalists.

For the tertiary level, Dr. Alexander Abrazado, Dean of the College of Agriculture, URS – Tanay main campus was awarded as Most Outstanding Academic Head, while Prof. Liezel R Francisco, an Associate Professor 2 from URS – Pililla Campus was recognized as Most Outstanding College Faculty.

As an administrator, Dr. Abrazado has led the college in its continuous endeavor to promote agriculture as a discipline and patronize local agricultural products. He also supervised and monitor the quality assurance of the programs under his college. With his leadership, he has been an instrument in the campus to gain local and national distinctions. He has helped his faculty and staff to upgrade their professional qualifications by engaging them in instruction, research, extension and production services.

Prof. Liezel R. Francisco, Associate Professor 2 at URS – Pililla Campus, is a licensed professional teacher, registered guidance counselor and registered psychometrician. Her expertise and dedication to her career is exemplary as she extends her time and effort to teach and reach out to those individuals who are in need of assistance despite her multiple functions in the University. She has been serving the University since June 2003. She takes pride of her numerous achievements such as being Best in Descriptive Research, Loyalty and Exemplary Behavior Awards in the URS PRAISE 2019, a published researcher and a resource speaker on mental health. // ~ L.
