Regional GADC Fosters S&T, Innovation: Local Forum Held at URS

The Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) sponsored the 2023 Regional Women’s Month (RWM) Celebration at 9:00 am on March 31 at the Cultural Center of Laguna, Santa Cruz, Laguna. A local forum was also held at URS.

This year’s celebration aligns with the 2023 National Women’s Month theme, “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society,” with the sub-theme, “Creating WE Opportunities in Science, Technology, and Innovation.” It highlighted the importance of creating equal opportunities in science, technology, and innovation toward achieving the region’s development goals. A photo contest was also conducted to further advocate the importance of including women’s concerns and empowerment to attain inclusive development. All GAD focal persons and experts were invited to the event.

Meanwhile, URS held its series of local seminars anchored on the same national theme on March 24 and 30 at URS Morong Campus. The DigitALL seminar on Women’s Health aimed to increase awareness of cyberbullying and other online offenses as well as lifestyle changes and interventions to improve overall health. Meanwhile, the discourse on sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expressions and sex characteristics (SOGIESC), and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer (LGBTQIA+) people’s rights focused on continually providing support, protection, and respect to students, faculty, staff, and other clients of the University regardless of their gender preference or identity. //
