In the academic landscape of 2025, one name stands out for his exceptional contributions to engineering education: Engr. Marlon A. Bautista, the recipient of the Outstanding Faculty award in this year’s PRAISE.
Engr. Bautista’s journey in education began in June 2003 at the University of Rizal System-Morong, where he has served as a faculty member in the College of Engineering. His expertise spans a wide array of subjects, including AC & DC Circuits, AC & DC Machines, Electromagnetics, Power Systems and Engineering Mathematics. His dedication and leadership were quickly recognized, leading him to serve as the Electrical Engineering Program Chairperson from 2004 to 2006 and again from 2008 to 2015.
From 2015 to 2019, he took on a dual role as Dean of the College of Engineering for both the URS-Morong and URS-Antipolo City campuses. As of 2025, he holds the title of Professor IV and continues to contribute to the university’s academic development as Chairman of the Journal Selection and Publication Assistance Team and the TWG on Engineering Books Evaluation.
Beyond his work at the University, Engr. Bautista has also shared his expertise as a reviewer for PowerHouse, an Engineering Review Center in 2012. Before his academic career, he gained valuable hands-on experience as a Line Electrician at Merit Stainless Steel, Inc.
Engr. Bautista is a highly educated professional, holding multiple degrees that reflect his passion for both engineering and education. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Technological Institute of the Philippines in 2001 and is a Registered Electrical Engineer and Registered Master Electrician, both since April 2002. He also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics from the University of Rizal System and a Doctor of Christian Education from Antioch Theological Seminary International. In 2022, he completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Management from the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta. As of 2024, he is a candidate for a Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering Education from Batangas State University.
His academic contributions extend to his published works, including co-authoring several books in 2019, such as Mathematics in the Modern World, Integral Calculus, and Electrical Circuits 1. He has also published research articles in prestigious journals. His paper on Flipped-Lecture Classroom Pedagogy in Electrical System and Illumination Design Engineering was published in the Journal of Electrical Systems in 2024. Other works, including Electrical System of URSM Science and Technology Building: An Analysis (2022) and Arithmetic Braille Calculator (2021), have been published in Neuroquantology.// abc
