Officials Attend Futures Thinking Workshop

The University sent 11 delegates to Batangas State University – The National Engineering University – for the Regional Futures Consortium Workshop: High-Level Anticipatory Leadership and Governance Executive Course on December 12-15. 

The URS delegation headed by Dr. Marites Rio, Vice-President for Research Development, Extension, and Production (RDEP) and Dr. Allan Conde, Vice-President for Academic Affairs (AA) was joined in by Dr. Juan Abarro, Dr. Marvin Amoin, Dr. Joanne Concepcion, Prof. Janice Hilao, Dr. Ariel Plantilla, Prof. Jeffrey Azor, Dr. Niclie Tiratira, Dr. Fe Esperanza Mateo, and Dr. Jocelyn Gagalang. The first two days of the conference were held via Zoom and the culmination was held face-to-face at the Batangas State University.

Five modules under Regional Futures Agenda 2050 were tackled. These were Anticipatory Leadership and Governance: History and Key Concepts; Theory of Social Change and Anticipatory Governance Tools and Methods; Case Studies on Anticipatory Leadership and Governance; and, SDGs, Intergenerational Fairness and Futures Thinking: A Framework for the Philippine Strategic Foresight Report 2050.

An initiative of the Senate Committee on Sustainable Development Goals, Innovation, and Futures Thinking, the workshop “aims to promote the significant role of futures thinking using the idea of foresight and transformative futures to address economic competitiveness and environmental protection in the local context”. ~ abc
