IPITSH Hits Record High: 137 Copyrights, Dozen Patents in 2025

The University of Rizal System (URS) made history in 2025 through its Intellectual Property, Innovation, and Technology Support Hub (URSIPITSH), with the registration of 137 copyrights at the National Library of the Philippines (NLP) and the advancement of various invention patents, utility models, and industrial designs.

Starting from March to October, various works were filed by faculty and students, including “Performance-Based Learning Activities in Cookery for Grade 9” by Christian Lee Luis Montiadora et al. (A2025-587, March 18), “TikTok-based Math Tutorials” by Karen San Juan et al. (O2025-838, March 18), and a series of comic-based pesticide warnings by Shielanie Dacumos, including “Bayluscide” (O2025-3391, September 23). These copyrights cover K to 12 teaching aids such as manipulative science kits, tracer studies for education graduates, IoT projects, and specialized modules, including “Principles and Strategies in Teaching Mathematics” by Paula Cristin Jade Peñaranda (A2025-1941, July 30).

Following the success of previous inventions such as the Hard Hat with Face Shield (registered December 2024), URS has filed 11 key inventions in 2025, including the Chicken Egg Incubator with Computer Vision for Fertility Detection (12025050897, November 13, by Jenadel Antipolo), the 3-in-1 Bean-to-Ground Coffee Processing Machine (12025050933, November 25, by Jakki Stacy Wayne Serra’s team), and the Automatic Ball Tosser for Baseball and Softball (12025050653, September 17). Other highlights include the Automated Machine for Waste Paper into Biodegradable Pots (12025050827, October 24, by Merie Ann Dudang’s group) and an industrial design for a Series and Parallel Pump Apparatus (32025051567, September 10), both of which are progressing through IPOPHL formality exams into early 2026 substantive reviews.

Coordinated with URS-IPITSH, its efforts underscore the university’s leadership in educational innovation, sustainable agriculture, AI-driven technologies, and community solutions across Rizal Province, empowering students and faculty to drive real-world impact.
