Seven research centers of the University of Rizal System (URS) have been recognized officially by the Board of Regents, which aim to focus on advancing research in areas such as statistics, biodiversity, agriculture, and innovation.
The research centers are the University Statistical Center (USC), Environmental Education and Biodiversity Research Center (EEBRC), Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resource (SANRe), Regional Design and Creativity Hub for Innovation in MSMEs and Education (RDCHIME), Food Analytic and Research Service Laboratory (FARSL), Thinking Ahead through Networks in Academic Work on Social Science and Education Research Center (TANAW SSERC), and Fish Processing Building within the Freshwater Resources and Agri-products Processing Center (FRAPC).
Under Implementation Order (IO) No 53, USC provides data processing services and statistical training. EEBRC with IO No. 48 fosters environmental protection programs while SANRe (IO No. 49) pursues sustainable agriculture practices.
RDCHIME under IO No 52 fosters MSME workshops and collaborations, while FARSL (IO No. 51) provides food safety and water analysis. Additionally, TANAW SSERC (IO No 47) uses 3D printing for urban design, and FRAPC (IO No. 50) improves agri-product processing.
According to Dr. Marites Rio, Vice President for Research Development, Extension, and Production, these research centers help in achieving financial sustainability and solving regional problems like food security, urban planning, and development.
The recognition of URS-Research Centers was carried out in the 85th BOR regular meeting of BOR last December 16, 2025, at ODRA Conference Room 2, 4th floor HEDC Bldg, CP Garcia, Diliman, Quezon City.
