IPO Initiates Joint WebShop on Intellectual Property, Technology Business Management

The gift of intellectual property is a queer thing. It brings people with great gifts in one hand and helps direct a privileged future on the other hand. This perspective being shared by Dr. Leo C. Rio, Director of Production and concurrent Project Staff 3 of the DOST-PCAARD-special funded project titled “Enhancing Technology Transfer through Intellectual Property Technology Business Management”, served as one of the inspirations in the conduct of Two-Phase Training. Phase 1 is centered on a WebShop on IP Management and Technology Commercialization from November 27 to January 8, 2020.

Day 1, November 27, 2020 was graced by Dr. Ria Liza C. Canlas, Director, Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, National University who candidly amazed the Wesbhop participants on the topic “Bringing Innovation to Commercialization through Research and Production Initiatives.

On the second and third day (December 4 and 11, 2020) the participants were delighted by the speakership of Dr. Teddy Tepora and Prof. Emeline Guevarra of Cavite State University.

Dr. Tepora shared his expertise and experience on the topic “Establishment of Innovation and Technology Support Office while Prof. Guevarra inspired the participants on the topic “Intellectual Property-Technology Business Management.  She had the showcase of products which she originally conceived, developed and processed as her own business.

The fourth day of the training was inspired by the sharing of Dr. Leo C. Rio and Prof. Eugene SF. Tia about Disclosure of Technology. The participants were made to better understand how the activity worksheets are to be filled in and how the expected outputs for the WebShop will be evaluated.

Participants were awarded a Certificate of Completion after having successfully accomplished and presented their Technology Disclosure by campus.
