History of College of Science and Education
The merging of the two institutes namely, the Institute of Arts and Science (IAS) and the Institute of Education and Home Technology (IEHT) in URS Main Campus gave birth to the Institute of Science and Education (ISEd) in 2005 based on the URS Organizational Structure approved per BOR Resolution No. 012-117-01 dated December 12, 2004 and was managed by Prof Fe Esperanza T Mateo as Head, from June 2005 until November 2007. She was followed by Prof Ella J Lontoc who took the office until June 2008. Same courses offered by the then two institutes were offered to a considerably increasing number of students.
In 2007 as per Organizational Structure approved by BOR through Resolution No. 021-195-07, the institute was renamed School of Science and Education (SSEd). During the SY 2008-2009, modifications were made on the organizational structure having Dr Amelita C Cueto as the first designated Dean of SSEd until July 2010. She continued with the designation as Program Head from July 2010 to April 2012. It was in School Year 2012 when the Modified URS Organizational Structure was approved per BOR Resolution No. 039-349-12 where the designation Program Head was changed to Head. Prof Bernadette G. Castalone took over as Head, SSEd from School Year 2012 to April 2013. Another modification on the Organizational Structure was made as per BOR Resolution No. -42-393-13 renaming the School of Science and Education as the College of Science and Education (COSE) headed again by Dr. Amelita C. Cueto as the Dean, COSE to date.
As School of Science and Education, it operates four programs such as Teacher Education, Home Technology, Arts and Sciences. For Teacher Education, the school offers BSE major in English, Mathematics, Filipino and BEEd specializing in General Education.
